Modelling of socio economic dynamics
Bertram Düring (University of Sussex), Enrico Scalas (University of Sussex)
Systems in sociology and economics often consist of a large number of interacting individuals that may form patterns or develop a collective behaviour. Research on microscopic stochastic models of such systems and their kinetic, mean-field and hydrodynamic limits have recently gained a lot of momentum. The aim of this special session is to highlight recent advances on stochastic, kinetic and PDE modelling in this area. The session focuses on applications such as price and opinion formation, wealth distribution, congestion models, and population dynamics. Papers on related problems from the life sciences such as herding and flocking will also be considered.
