Fair Decisions

Marc Kilgour (Wilfrid Laurier University)

What is fairness, and how can fair decisions be made? Fairness is connected to both branches of classical Game Theory through questions of strategy and sharing. Methods of Computer Science can help to address questions of efficiency, consistency, and manipulability. Voting, allocation, and other procedures from Economics, Political Science, and other social sciences try to use individual choices to produce fair outcomes. This session will feature new applications of mathematics aimed at a better understanding of strategy, sharing, decisions, and fairness.
