Modeling and Computational Methods for Mathematical Biology and Medicine
Organizers: Suzanne Shontz (Mississippi State), Corina Drapaca (Penn State), Siv Sivaloganathan (University of Waterloo)
Today, mathematical modeling and computational methods and simulations play essential roles in the
advancement of biomedical sciences, providing us with a better understanding of biological systems and
disease patterns and ultimately contributing to the fast development of modern prevention, diagnostic
and therapies tools needed by the medicine of tomorrow. The aim of this session is to bring together
mathematicians, physicists, engineers, and clinicians involved in the area of biomedical
sciences to provide state-of-the-art reviews, and report on current cutting-edge research
and open problems. It is hoped that bringing together researchers with such a wide range of
expertise will create the right environment for idea dissemination and fruitful discussions.
