Recent Advances in Numerical Methods and Scientific Computing

Christina C. Christara (University of Toronto), Dong Liang (York University), Shaun Lui (University of Manitoba) and Justin Wan (University of Waterloo)

This special session will bring together researchers who will share recent progress in numerical methods and scientific computing. It will focus on numerical methods for partial differential equations, by emphasizing new advances. The topics of interest are (but not limited to): high-order methods, conservative methods, FEMs, FDMs, compact FDMs, spectral methods, stochastic numerical methods, iterative methods, optimization methods, and parallel computing methods. The session will also emphasize both design and analysis of algorithms in applications of scientific computing, especially in scientific, data science, environment, finance, image processing, MRI, engineering and industrial applications. This session will also serve as a forum to bring together research scientists, application pioneers, and software developers to discuss problems and solutions and to identify new challenges in these areas.
