Modelling NPI and PI in epidemics/pandemics

Jeta Molla, Iain Moyles and Jane Heffernan (York University)

Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) (physical distancing, mask-wearing, lockdowns, etc.) and pharmaceutical interventions (PIs) (vaccination, medication, etc.) are often implemented to curb the spread of emerging outbreaks such as novel strains of influenza or SARS-CoV-2. The main goal of this session is to bring together researchers working on infectious disease models which explore the impact of NPIs and PIs on controlling epidemics. Possible topics covered in the session are, among others: incorporation of NPIs and PIs in epidemic models, effectiveness of NPIs and PIs, compliance to mitigation measures.
